Video calling is an essential part of live communication between teachers and students.

Every classroom in Classverse includes built-in video calling.

Unlike video-first platforms, joining a classroom in Classverse does not automatically mean you must join a video call. The classroom is a complete workspace where teaching, grading, planning, and reviewing can all take place, with or without live video.

By default, students are required to join the video call when they enter the classroom during scheduled class hours. A 15-minute buffer is applied before and after the scheduled time. However, if students open the classroom outside of active class hours to submit assignments, review quiz results, or study shared materials, there is no ongoing video call and they are not required to join one.

Teachers have full control over starting and ending video calls. They can initiate a video session outside regular class hours if needed, such as for extra sessions or focused discussions. Similarly, teachers can enter a classroom to grade quizzes, configure breakout rooms, or prepare activities without starting a video call.

Classverse video calling includes standard features such as joining or leaving a call, configuring audio and video devices, turning the microphone and camera on or off, and screen sharing.

When it is time for a scheduled class, teachers and students receive a push notification on desktop (if Classverse is open in the browser) and on the mobile app (if installed and logged in). This helps ensure that sessions start on time.

Who can do this?

For all plans, only Teachers can start and end a video call within a classroom. Students can join and leave the video call but cannot control it.
